For cycling bibs and shorts, the HIP MEASUREMENT is the most crucial factor. Measure around the WIDEST POINT of the hips/bum. If you are between sizes or petite (5'3" or under), we recommend SIZING DOWN for a compressive fit. A snug fit is crucial to performance. Check out our FIT GUIDE for more detailed instructions, or pop your measurements into the fit calculator above for a personalized recommendation! (Please note, the fit guide requires chest, waist and hip measurements.)
Great stretchy fabric, somewhere between hard twill and yoga pants. I took my normal pant size (size 30, 30" waist 44" low hip) to wear without a chamois. Used them for hiking on Maui this past weekend and they stood up to the heat and humidity like no other! Citronelle color didn't show sweat, either. I didn't find this size to be too large in the waist. The secure pockets are to die for -- the zippers are small and unobtrusive, but not so small that you can't grab them. Will be grabbing the 11" for other off-the-bike sports. This 5.5" length did not ride up. I might size up for use with a chamois; my true size was pretty skin tight which is great for what I wanted to use these for, but possibly not perfect for every sport.
The material is in-between stiff and elastic - offering enough give while not feeling flimsy or suffocating. I have a high a$$/thighs to waist ratio, but these fit supremely. I am normally a size 26, sized up to a 27 and there's plenty of room to wear a chamois underneath, if needed. There's some room around the waist, but I'm cool with it because of how comfortable the material is. A 26 would probably fit as well, but who needs tight things after this hell of a year. My one wish is that they were just a tad longer. It would be great to see a short between the 5.5" and 11", I find that without bike shorts underneath, these ride up a bit and allow for saddle rub, but because I'm short, I worry the 11" will look silly. Regardless, this is all I will be wearing this summer.
I ordered these in black and promptly ordered a second pair in green - they fit PERFECTLY. The high-ish waist is flattering and comfortable and the gussets make for easy movement. I've worn them on and off the bike, for gardening, and for hiking. The pockets are perfect, and the phone pocket in the back actually works! Basically these are perfect in every single way and I plan to wear them every day this summer. Thanks MFF - you never disappoint. <3
I bought these to replace the Rapha turn up shorts I bought many moons ago (now discontinued). I was on the hunt for shorts that looked cute and were made with technical fabric that was durable and wouldn't show sweat stains for mostly casual riding. First, the fabric is perfect - buttery soft but I can tell will be long lasting. I also like the look of them - they don't scream performance like other MTB shorts I own. There are tons of pockets that zip, which is also a huge upgrade from other MTB shorts. Unfortunately the fit is not great for me. I do have a substantial size difference between my waist (27") and hip (39")/thighs, and struggle to find pants/shorts that fit me well. I purchased a size 27. The shorts are quite loose on the waist, but pretty tight on my ass and thighs so I don't think I could size down. An admittedly big advantage to the thigh tightness is when I ride in the shorts they don't ride up. They are high-waisted and do stay up, but there is gapping and bulk in the waistband so not a great look with tighter fitting t-shirts. Can't win them all though and I'm overall very satisfied!
I love that these shorts are high waisted, stretchy and flexible material, great zippered pockets in the back. They look good AND feel good. I am 5'3, 133 lbs. I ordered the 27 initially ( I wear a 27 in most bottoms) and had to return for a 26. A solid summer short fersher!
