For cycling bibs and shorts, the HIP MEASUREMENT is the most crucial factor. Measure around the WIDEST POINT of the hips/bum. If you are between sizes or petite (5'3" or under), we recommend SIZING DOWN for a compressive fit. A snug fit is crucial to performance. Check out our FIT GUIDE for more detailed instructions, or pop your measurements into the fit calculator above for a personalized recommendation! (Please note, the fit guide requires chest, waist and hip measurements.)
First and foremost, the material that these are made out of is really sleek and nice. They look great and I have gotten a bunch of compliments on them! I got a belt to wear with them, and they make me feel like a champ. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the way the short fits around my thicc thighs. If I were to size up, it wouldn't fit me in the waist. A size down, the waist was perfect but the legs were too tight. So I'm right in the middle and have a size 26. (5'2" 135lbs - I do not wear a chamois under them) They're fine for commuting and for riding up to 4/5 hours. I was really hoping for something that I could take bikepacking that would work for long hours in the saddle and be cool to chill around camp in. Because the thighs fit snug, they do ride up on me. I was sooo hoping to eliminate that sausage casing look when you stop riding, and maybe its just my life to always have to tug the legs back down. I do recommend these shorts aside from the ride up.
I bought these shorts because they seemed promising, I am a 27 in my jeans 5'9" 148lb, and the 27 fit but is big around the waist, I feel like the 26 would have fit, but not around my thighs. I did a 9 mi MTB ride and the entire time they bunched up like an extreme wedgie the entire ride. Padded underwear fit underneath, but the waist is too big. These were not the answer to finding cute MTB shorts. I love this brand's cycling jerseys and shorts, but the MTB line needs some work. I'll probably wear these hiking or something, definitely not for MTB.
Really like the look and functionality of these, and I would have given them 5 stars except the zipper is constantly being pushed down (more so on one pair than another, I bought two), which is annoying because as a cyclist - you are bent over a good amount of the time, and that's what often causes the zipper to fall. The waist is looser and I have no problem zipping up, but any amount of pressure on the zipper seems to be an issue. Surprising for an expensive short. I'll also say - let's be real - any fabric that is not natural, smells pretty fast - so you do need to wash more often than jean shorts, as expected tho.
According to the size chart (which claims to be TTS), I should wear a 34 in these shorts. I purchased a 38 and a 40 (because every size chart for cycling clothing seems to be delusional about sizing) and the 38 was excruciatingly tight while the 40 BARELY fit. The waist is large, but everything else barely works. Why are the legs so tight? These are supposed to be for riding or possibly hiking, right? So shouldn't there be some room for movement? Such a shame. The material is nice and lightweight -- love that part, and the only reason they are getting 2 stars, and I love the slide-snap so there's no accidental unbuttoning while wearing, but that's where the good ends, sadly. Also, I am under 5'4 and these are too short for functional, active use... maybe if someone is very, very short, but otherwise, they just ride up. If you are thick through the waist, very short, and have thin legs, maybe these will work, but otherwise, I'd look for something else. Not a great first impression of this company that I've heard so many great things about, so I don't know that I'll be purchasing here again.
When I saw the color of these I jumped on them. I've had a chance to do a couple long rides (~70 miles) with these shorts and have found them to be comfy. I like the high waist and LOVE that it has multiple pockets and belt loops.
I like a looser pant, but I've worn them with and without chamois and I haven't noticed any uncomfortable tightness or looseness.
