BUILD YOUR BASE
With just enough padding to keep you comfortable in the saddle-but not so much that you look and feel bulky-the Foundations Liner Short glides smoothly under clothing or cycling layers. Made with ultra-high-wicking fabric and breathable mesh panels, this durable base layer efficiently wicks away moisture and helps reduce chafing, even on the sweatiest rides. Use the Foundations Liner Shorts to cushion your commute, buffer your MTB ride, or pad your Peleton workout. No matter where you are headed, we'll help you build your base.
Make it a match set with our compatible Foundations Sports Bra.
Foundations is our feminine solution to performance undergarments, and it all started with a hunt for the perfect cycling shorts. For most rides, cycling bibs and shorts are overkill in the padding department, but no chamois at all is just plain painful! We wanted something in between full-on bike shorts and unpadded Lycra, but we couldn't find our dream liner shorts anywhere. So we made our own!

For cycling bibs and shorts, the HIP MEASUREMENT is the most crucial factor. Measure around the WIDEST POINT of the hips/bum. If you are between sizes or petite (5'3" or under), we recommend SIZING DOWN for a compressive fit. A snug fit is crucial to performance. Check out our FIT GUIDE for more detailed instructions, or pop your measurements into the fit calculator above for a personalized recommendation! (Please note, the fit guide requires chest, waist and hip measurements.)
I ordered the same size as my regular shorts from here (an XL) and they are perfect and much lighter weight. I am a fairly consistent 12/31 in pants and 5’10”.
I wanted to love these. Unfortunately I had the same problem several other reviewers had. The fabric and feel is light and silky, and I love the mesh vented band, but they roll down over my belly and roll up my thighs. This might not be a problem for smaller riders but if you have any booty, belly and thighs beware. And I waited just over 30 days so no return option.
I’m an outdoor rider and got these for indoor training. I’m tall 5’10 and pear shaped. I already sized up in the shorts by advice of the sizing chart and they are still very snug around the legs. For an indoor trainer i find the inseam too short- the tops of my thighs are exposed to rubbing and the grippy tape flips up and they don’t stay put. The chamois is thin, which is great, but not comfortable for over an hour on the saddle. The waistband is super high which is great, but in a road or spin body position, the waistband doesn’t stay put and rolls over. I don’t find the waistband too snug and have a pretty flat belly so this is weird. I’d prefer longer inseams and a slightly lower waist.
Wouldn’t wear these any longer than cruising around town. 40kms is when I realised I should have put my other MFF knicks on. The chamois is a lot thinner making them sit fine under the trail shorts and for shorter rides. The mesh keeps you cool and the length is great. I’d like the chamois a little thicker. I’d definitely size up one. Overall pretty happy and have been using them frequently.
Got two pairs of these when I did the Colorado trail, kept my butt happy so no complaints. The grippers do roll up quite a bit but like I said, no real complaints if my butt’s happy.
