For cycling bibs and shorts, the HIP MEASUREMENT is the most crucial factor. Measure around the WIDEST POINT of the hips/bum. If you are between sizes or petite (5'3" or under), we recommend SIZING DOWN for a compressive fit. A snug fit is crucial to performance. Check out our FIT GUIDE for more detailed instructions, or pop your measurements into the fit calculator above for a personalized recommendation! (Please note, the fit guide requires chest, waist and hip measurements.)
I’m 5’10 and 175lbs and ordered the large bibs and medium jersey based on my measurements. Both are quite snug. I also ordered tall, and glad I did! There’s no extra space in the torso- the straps are tight. Otherwise, it feels good quality and the chamois is comfortable. I would just recommend sizing up from what the size chart recommends
The jersey fit and feel is amazing. I'm 5'10 and 170 lbs, based on my hip measurements I ordered a large for the bibs. However, they were very tight and became sheer when I would put any additional strain on the fabric, like sitting and bending in the saddle. The XL fit much, much better without the see through quality when bending. In general, it's such good quality gear and the return process was extremely easy. The padding in these bibs deserves accolade. Compared to comparably priced Castelli or Pearl Izumi gear the padding here is far superior. I love this company.
The compression works well on long rides and this is one of the few jerseys that don't ride up on me.
I have ordered jerseys from MFF before, but this is my first kit with bibs. I love them bibs. They fit really well and they look great. The summerweight continues to be my favorite jersey style, because of the great sun protection. I have worn my summerweight jersey in increasingly hot temperatures (up to 90 degrees), and I have been surprised by how the long sleeves are just as cool as a sleeveless jersey. The recommendation for bibs for me is a small, and I could've used a medium. The small is okay, but it is very compressive, and I tend to like a little bit more room, so just be aware of that when you're ordering. If you like a really tight fit, that's great. I would probably order a medium next time.
I love the modernest jersey (size small), the print looks great in person. I sized down (also size small) for the bib based on recommendations because I am short (5'2), but not sure that was the best advice. I am 125lbs and always fall between small and medium, but have a large butt and thighs and I think I might have just been more comfortable in a medium. Seeing as this is my first bib, I wanted to follow recommendations and figured that I might just need to get used to how tight the fit is. I'm not yet used to the hassle of using the bathroom with a bib, so for longer rides, I've had to plan ahead for bathroom breaks, because with how tight this bib is, it takes a long time to peel off and back on again. I also noticed some rubbing and cutting from the elastic edge of the bib shorts, and that my shoulders start to ache after +50mile rides because of the straps - again, this might just be because I really should be wearing a medium, despite my height.
